In my childhood my mother photographed me in the
same spot almost everyday.
Inspired by Clarice Lispector and Jonas Mekas, it excavates how a Chinese mother in a
small town quietly rebelling against convention through
her lens, unknowingly teaching
her daughter to see differently.

I wrote this piece in my journal
and never intended to show it.
So when it came to publishing it, I edited the original writing in photoshop
for the cover to maintain the intimacy.

Texts become visual poetry
I left the margin boundaries visible, letting the technical framework become part of the visual poetry.
